Based at St Pancras Church, and with events taking place at several churches and cathedrals across London, the Festival aims to showcase performances of recent and contemporary liturgical music and organ music at the very highest levels, both in the context of services and concerts. Please find attached a pdf copy of this year's Festival brochure. Please feel free to circulate to colleagues to whom this may be of interest. These are: Saturday June 27th Ordination of Deacons Saturday/Sunday July 25/26th Workshop/Sunday Evensong. Singers are invited to participate either as an individual or with a group from a parish. Places are limited to around 100 adult singers as we will be using the Cathedral Song Room.. We can take a limited number (total 20), of junior singers or trebles for these events, provided they are supervised at all times by an approved adult singer. If you would like to do this please phone or email me soon. Please do publicise these events and give every encouragement for singers from your church to take part. To assist with the planning and organisation of these events I would ask that those who wish to sing contact me by the 1st May 2009 giving their name, voice part and an email address. Most organists in their work as a church musician have to improvise as part of their contribution to Liturgy and Worship. This London-base course caters for all who want to learn more about the art of improvisation from beginners to advanced players. As an attendee last year I can promise that you will learn much from introducing hymns in an engaging manner creating interludes and extentions through to developing complete pieces. For more details please see http://www.loic.org.uk/ for a description of the course and contact information for the course organiser.
